School health programme was conducted by Department of Community Medicine on the 24th of July 2018
The Department of community medicine with the cooperation by all the heads of the schools and their receptiveness conducted the school health awareness program with great enthusiasm by the staff and students of 3rd year BHMS at JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital. The programme was an enriching experience for everyone.
During the programme 6 government schools were visited addressing a total of 1524 students.
Posters depicting awareness on preventions of rainy season problems themed ‘How to take care of our health during rainy season’ were given to each student of the schools visited. All the students were happy and appreciated the posters and the event.
Activities during the programme:
There were 6 teams of students and an in-charge staff who visited the schools. Students delivered awareness talk regarding correct hand wash practices for the children. All the children took part enthusiastically. Later a skit was presented showing how to prevent diseases like malaria, dengue, diarrhoea etc to the school children on the respective school grounds.
Future school programmes:
The future programmes that were suggested by the Principal and Headmasters of the schools were Blood Grouping and Blood pressure recording for the students of 9th and 10th standard , diagnostic camps, medical camps, awareness talk on sanitary hygiene for high school girls, ENT screening, Nutritional screening, Skin disease screening camp.
