MISSION LIFE, a public movement launched in the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties in Glasgow emphasized mobilizing individuals to become ‘Pro-Planet People’. In support to this mission the Department of Community Medicine had organized an awareness programme for #BeatPlasticPollution in Kothwalguda village, Telangana on 20th June 2023.
The school children and villagers were educated about the need to prevent plastic pollution and the health hazards caused by improper disposal of waste. They were motivated to substitute plastic material of their daily use i.e., use of metal water bottles in place of plastic, cloth bags instead of plastic bags for shopping.
Villagers, children and JIMS team of doctors and students participated in the awareness rally and distributed cloth bags to the shopkeepers and advocated them to reduce plastic use.
